If you’ve ever tried to get a contractor to handle a small repair, you’ve likely experienced the same frustration: calls not returned, vague answers, or pressure to replace far more than necessary.

In today’s roofing and siding industry, there is a clear and growing gap. Many companies are structured around large-scale projects, which makes smaller repairs difficult to prioritize. As a result, homeowners are often left without support when roofing repairs or siding repairs are urgently needed.
At Holda Construction, we’ve made a conscious decision to operate differently.
We are based right here in the community, just steps from the Palatine post office. We see our clients as neighbors, not transactions. That perspective shapes how we approach our work, especially when it comes to smaller jobs that others may overlook.
Because in reality, these “small” problems are rarely small for long.

What could have been resolved with a targeted repair can quickly escalate into a significantly larger and more expensive project. The challenge is not just the damage itself, but the delay in addressing it—often because homeowners struggle to find a contractor willing to take on the work.
However, rather than avoiding these jobs, we’ve structured our process to accommodate them in a way that remains fair and transparent for both sides. By starting with an inspection-based approach and clearly outlining potential outcomes upfront, we are able to provide homeowners with options that reflect the actual scope of the issue, not an inflated version of it.
This allows us to deliver what most homeowners are truly looking for:
Client: Christopher Smith
Project Investment: $450
Christopher contacted us during a heavy rainstorm after hearing water dripping inside his home. Upon accessing his attic, he discovered water pooling near the attic stair unit: an issue that had not appeared in the two and a half years since he purchased the property.
From the initial conversation, his goal was clear: he wanted to address the issue without committing to unnecessary work.
After reviewing photos he provided, we identified a potential concern around the attic power vent and its flashing. We also noted painted attic plywood, which can indicate prior moisture or mold issues. This was communicated upfront before scheduling the visit, ensuring there were no surprises.
We outlined three possible outcomes in advance:

Client: Ken Leisering
Project Investment: $1,400

Ken reached out after a windstorm tore sections of fascia from his home, exposing raw wood along the gables. The issue was both structural and visual, but more importantly, it created a direct pathway for moisture intrusion.
Before contacting us, he had already reached out to multiple contractors. We were the only one to respond.
After reviewing photos and discussing the situation, we presented two clearly defined options: a lower-cost repair solution and a full replacement approach that would provide a more durable and visually consistent result. The differences between the two were explained in practical terms, without pressure.
Ken chose the full replacement.
During installation, we encountered a common but often overlooked issue: although the original fascia color was documented, years of weathering had altered its appearance. Instead of proceeding with a mismatch, we adjusted the material selection to ensure a proper visual blend with the existing home.

In addition to completing the primary scope, our team inspected and reinforced adjacent components, ensuring the entire area was secure and properly integrated.
Ken later shared his experience in a five-star Google Review:
“They provided a prompt and fair estimate, and were out in a few days to complete the repairs. Their workers were courteous and did a fantastic job.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Client: Wei
Project Investment: $850

In many cases, homeowners are presented with two options: replace the entire wall or accept a visible mismatch. Neither option aligned with her goal of restoring the home without unnecessary expense.
During the inspection, we evaluated the home from a visual and practical perspective. We identified a section of siding in a less visible area that could serve as a source for original material.
By carefully removing panels from this “donor” area and reinstalling them in the damaged, highly visible section, we were able to achieve a seamless match where it mattered most. The donor area was then repaired using the closest available modern material.

This approach preserved the home’s appearance while avoiding a much larger project.
Wei summarized the result in her five-star Google Review:
“Very satisfied with the siding repair… they used a clever swap from a hidden area so everything matches perfectly.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

These projects reflect a consistent philosophy.
Not every situation requires a full replacement. Not every issue needs to be escalated into a larger project. What homeowners often need most is a knowledgeable professional who is willing to assess the situation carefully and provide a solution that aligns with the actual problem.
By focusing on transparency, practical solutions, and responsiveness, we aim to provide a level of service that is increasingly difficult to find: particularly for smaller, time-sensitive repairs.
If you’re dealing with a leak, damaged siding, exposed wood, or any issue that seems small but concerning, the most important step is to address it early.
Left unresolved, these problems rarely remain contained.
We’re here to help, whether the solution is a simple repair or something more involved. Your first step is understanding what’s actually happening.
