Mastic Vinyl Siding Installation

Mastic Vinyl Siding: Low Maintenance, Lasting Protection, and Timeless Curb Appeal

Why We Recommend Mastic Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding has come a long way over the past few decades. Today’s premium products are stronger, more attractive, and more durable than the builder-grade vinyl found on many older homes.

That’s why Holda Construction Roofing and Siding frequently recommends Mastic® vinyl siding for homeowners looking for an attractive, low-maintenance exterior that performs well in the Midwest climate.

While we install a variety of siding materials—including James Hardie® fiber cement and LP SmartSide® engineered wood—Mastic is often an excellent choice for homeowners seeking dependable performance, a wide selection of colors and profiles, and outstanding value.

Like every siding product we install, however, long-term performance depends on more than the material itself.

Proper installation matters.

Why Choose Mastic Vinyl Siding?

Mastic vinyl siding offers an excellent balance of appearance, durability, and affordability.

Unlike wood siding, vinyl never needs painting and won’t rot or become a food source for insects. Premium products like Mastic Quest feature thicker panels than many builder-grade vinyl systems, helping improve rigidity, reduce waviness, and create cleaner shadow lines across the home.

For many homeowners, Mastic provides the right combination of curb appeal, low maintenance, and long-term value without the higher investment of fiber cement.

Mastic Warranty

Mastic backs its vinyl siding with a Limited Lifetime Warranty that is transferable to a subsequent homeowner. The warranty also includes protection against hail damage and helps ensure the siding’s color remains vibrant for years under normal conditions.

Like every manufacturer warranty, proper installation plays an important role. At Holda Construction, we install Mastic siding according to manufacturer specifications to help homeowners get the performance the product was designed to deliver.

Why Installation Matters

Even the highest-quality vinyl siding won’t perform properly if the surrounding wall system isn’t installed correctly.

Proper house wrap, flashing, drainage, expansion clearances, trim details, and fastening all contribute to how well the siding protects the home over time. During every siding project, we inspect the existing wall system and correct issues that could affect long-term performance before the new siding is installed.

Whether the project involves replacing aging cedar, upgrading older vinyl siding, or repairing water damage, our goal is to leave the home with an exterior system—not simply new siding panels.

Mastic Vinyl Siding Cost

One of the biggest advantages of premium vinyl siding is its value.

While every project is different, vinyl typically offers the lowest upfront investment among today’s most popular siding materials while still providing decades of service with very little maintenance.

A Cottage-Inspired Exterior Transformation in Wauconda

When Megan and Martin contacted Holda Construction, they wanted more than new siding. Their aging cedar exterior looked tired, hidden wood rot had begun developing around several windows, and a previous experience with another contractor had left them searching for someone they could trust.

Together, we designed a complete exterior renovation featuring Mastic Quest Double 4″ vinyl siding in Tuscan Olive, LP SmartSide trim, shake accents, new Marvin windows and doors, updated lighting, and a new gutter system. During construction, we uncovered additional wood rot around several windows, documented everything, and completed the repairs through transparent change orders before moving forward.

The finished home combined the cottage-inspired appearance the homeowners envisioned with a durable, low-maintenance exterior built to withstand Midwest weather. Since completing the project, Megan and Martin have referred multiple neighbors to Holda Construction and continue planning future projects with our team.

Another Example: Siding and More

Not every siding project is about appearance alone.

On a home in Arlington Heights, we replaced worn vinyl siding with Mastic Quest Double 4″ siding while also correcting missing flashing and J-channels around several windows and making temporary roof repairs until a future roof replacement. By addressing these underlying deficiencies during the siding project, the homeowner received an exterior that not only looked better but also performed better.

This project highlights an important part of our approach: we don’t simply replace siding—we look for the conditions that could create future problems.

Mastic vs. Other Siding Materials

Every siding material offers different advantages.

Mastic vinyl siding is often the best choice for homeowners who prioritize affordability, minimal maintenance, and a wide range of colors and styles.
LP SmartSide provides a more natural wood appearance while offering improved resistance to moisture and pests compared to traditional wood siding.

James Hardie fiber cement offers exceptional durability and longevity but generally requires a larger upfront investment and a more involved installation process.

The best material depends on your home’s condition, your budget, your design preferences, and how long you plan to stay in the home. During your consultation, we’ll explain the pros and cons of each option so you can make an informed decision.

Is Mastic Vinyl Siding Right for Your Home?

Premium vinyl siding remains one of the most popular exterior products for good reason. It offers attractive curb appeal, low maintenance, and dependable performance at an approachable price point.

Whether you’re replacing aging cedar, upgrading older vinyl siding, or planning a complete exterior renovation, we’ll help you determine whether Mastic, LP SmartSide, James Hardie, or another solution is the best fit for your home.

Our recommendations are based on your home’s condition—not on selling a particular product.
