Defining The Problem

A residential home in our hometown of Palatine, Illinois, faced multiple issues with its exterior, primarily due to aging and wear of its components. The original cedar siding was deteriorating, affecting the home’s insulation and aesthetic appeal. The roof showed signs of damage and poor ventilation, leading to potential water leakage and inefficient energy use.

Additionally, the chimney kit and flashing around the brick chimney were outdated, compromising the home’s structural integrity. The window trims were also in disrepair, and the gutters needed replacement to ensure proper water diversion away from the foundation.

Our Proposed Solutions

Holda Construction, understanding the complexity of the project, conducted an exhaustive evaluation of the property. We discussed the homeowner’s goals, concerns, and budget. To address the multifaceted issues, we proposed a comprehensive renovation plan that included:

Replacing the Cedar Siding with LP SmartSide
We recommended installing LP SmartSide siding for its durability, aesthetic appeal, and maintenance ease.

Roof Replacement
To enhance protection against the elements and improve energy efficiency, the roof was completely redone.

Improving Roof Ventilation
Essential for preventing moisture buildup and extending the life of the roof, a complete plan for effective air flow was proposed and executed.

Replacing the Chimney Kit and Flashing
To ensure the chimney’s safety and functionality, we replaced the old, degrading materials with new.

New Trim around Windows
For improved insulation and curb appeal, we replaced the old trim.

Installing New Gutters
To effectively manage rainwater and protect the home’s foundation, an entire new gutter system was added.
