At Home With Holda: Trusting Your Family’s Home to Our Family Business

When you think of a roofing contractor, you likely imagine us high up outside. So why were we with our Hawthorne Woods customer, Joe, INSIDE his attic?

Visiting and inspecting the underside of the roof is extremely important for several reasons. This is a critical part of our assessment that can help prevent severe structural damage from occurring over time, mitigate future costly repairs, and ensure the health and safety of the home’s occupants.

Roof leaks, even minor ones, can lead to significant issues like water damage, mold and mildew growth, and compromised insulation, all of which can affect the overall safety, comfort and energy efficiency of your home. An unchecked leak can also lead to the deterioration of the wooden structures supporting your roof, threatening the structural integrity of your home.

In addition to checking for leaks, it is also important to check to make sure vents are present where they should be and connected correctly: you’ll see us plan in this video a more ideal placement for the bathroom exhaust fan. Cutting down the distance between the fan and the output reduces the chance of problems in the future.

Finally, we check for any damage caused by insects, pests and any other causes to ensure safety and resilience of the new roof for years to come. Insect or pest damage to a home can have serious implications, including structural damage and potential health risks. Pests such as termites can erode wooden structures, leading to safety issues, costly repairs and decreased property value.

We love that our customer joined us on this inspection, as one of our top values as a company is complete transparency. We try to plan and discuss as much as we can up front to reduce the chance of unexpected surprises during the job.

And especially exciting on this job, Mariusz’s son, Kevin Holda, was on-site along side his dad helping with the family business. Homeowner, Joe, joined the Holdas for a conversation about the project with the job was done, and we thank him sincerely for the wonderful testimonial:

This project was so much fun, and we hope to work with Joe again in the future. It’s not often a customer wants to venture into the tight spaces with us, and it was great to have him there to see the details we needed to address.
