Seamless vs Sectional Gutters

Seamless vs. Sectional Gutters

When it comes to keeping your home safe from water damage, gutters play a crucial role: they direct rainwater away from your roof, walls, and foundation, preventing costly repairs down the line. However, choosing the right type of gutter system can be daunting, especially with options like seamless gutters and sectional gutters available. So, what exactly sets these two apart, and which one is the best fit for your home? Let’s dive in and explore.

Seamless Gutters

Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters, as the name suggests, are custom-made gutters that are created in one continuous piece to fit the exact dimensions of your home. They are typically made from materials like aluminum, copper, or steel, and are manufactured on-site using a specialized machine.

Advantages of Seamless Gutters

Holda Construction charges between $14 – $20 per lineal foot including all accessories, labor and materials for seamless gutters. Our customer’s total cost is dependent on the size of gutters needed, the size of the roof, and the difficulty of job. Seamless gutters differ from most sectional gutters, as they require a gutter machine to properly install them.

"If you prioritize durability, reduced maintenance, and a custom fit, seamless gutters may be the ideal choice for your home."

Sectional Gutters

Sectional gutters, on the other hand, are made up of smaller sections that are pieced together during installation.

These sections are typically sold in standard lengths and are joined using connectors or seamsWe often refer to sectional gutters as being for “Sunday projects” or small DIY situations, ideal for those wanting to quickly install gutters on a small shed or garage without a gutter machine.

Sectional gutters can be bought pre-cut in 10′ sections from hardware store chains like Home Depot or Menards and can match style of popular gutter systems.

Sectional Gutters
Customers can run into a difference in the gauge of the gutters (how thick they are), with a typical 0.27″ gauge found in major hardware stores, but 0.32″ thickness in those sold professionally. This thicker gutter can be important in areas with heavy ice and snow, as the weight of accumulation can bend or damage a thin gutter, causing them to lose some of their function and appear wavy.
Home Depot currently sells sectional 5″ case style gutters for $13-15 for in 10′ sections with six colors to choose from. But beware the trap of thinking this will be your total cost, as you must figure in the accessories, as well: hangers, screws, seamers, and sealers need to be added. Replacing the entire gutter system on a home can cost more when you complete the work yourself over hiring the job out professionally.

We attempt to be as up-front as possible with the pricing of all of our services. See estimated cost for our gutter services. Keep in mind all estimates will be influenced by the size and style of your roof, the materials needed, and other factors unique to your project.

Advantages of Sectional Gutters

"If affordability and ease of installation
are your main concerns,
sectional gutters could be a suitable option."

And if You're Looking for a Birthday Gift…:

Highlighting one of our recent projects, a Palatine homeowner received new seamless gutters as a birthday gift from her spouse (exactly what she wished for!), replacing old and inefficient ones. This not only fulfilled a unique birthday request, but also provided a practical upgrade to their home. The new seamless gutters were custom-fitted to prevent any leaks, effectively enhancing the home’s protection against water damage and improving its exterior aesthetic.

So, Which One Should You Choose?

Ultimately, the decision between seamless gutters and sectional gutters depends on various factors, including your budget, aesthetic preferences, and maintenance preferences. If you prioritize durability, reduced maintenance, and a custom fit, seamless gutters may be the ideal choice for your home. However, if affordability and ease of installation are your main concerns, sectional gutters could be a suitable option.

It’s essential to weigh the pros and cons of each gutter type carefully and consider your specific needs before making a decision. While most roofing companies do not also do gutter installations, at Holda Construction we have our own team dedicated to gutters who are always available to provide valuable insights and help you choose the gutter system that best meets your requirements.
In conclusion, whether you opt for seamless gutters or sectional gutters, investing in a quality gutter system is crucial for protecting your home from water damage and preserving its structural integrity for years to come. By understanding the differences between these two options, you can make an informed decision that enhances the functionality and appearance of your home.
